How do I get to Andros?
Charter Flights can be arranged to Andros from Florida. Flights are also available via LeAir Charter Service from nearby Nassau, where twice daily scheduled flight connections are made to Andros. Another option is a ferry service provided by, Bahamas Ferries. The ferry takes approximately two hours and is well worth the journey. Visitors can enjoy the ocean in a clean, comfortable, air-conditioned boat. Check for rates and services with each service provider. Payment options vary with the different charter companies. To facilitate your planning, payments can be made through Andros Outdoor Adventures to confirm ticket reservations for any flight or ferry arrangement to Andros from Nassau. There is a small charge for this service. What is the climate like throughout the year? Our climate stays fairly consistent year round and consists of two seasons, summer (May through October) and winter (November through April). The average temperatures range from 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (27 to 32 degrees Celsius) in the summer to 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to 27 degrees Celsius) in the winter. How do I get to the National Parks? There are 5 national parks located on Andros; North and South Marine Parks, Crab Replenishment Park, Blue Holes National Park and the West Side National Park. Our flats fishing may take you into the West Side National Park. At your request, trips can be arranged for you to visit the other national parks. What should I keep in mind when fishing? Bonefishing is strictly catch and release. Nassau Grouper are prohibited from December 16th – February 16th. Crawfish/Spiny Lobster are prohibited from April 1st – July 31st. Possession and harvesting of Queen Conch without a well-formed lip is prohibited. Capture of all Sea Turtles and Sharks are prohibited. These Fisheries Regulations will be covered with you before you depart for your fishing adventure. What language do Bahamians speak? The official language of The Bahamas is English. Can we use credit cards on the island? Credit cards are accepted at several major businesses on Andros but for ease of transactions it is recommended to use cash. |
